Among the areas severely impacted, Shimla, a prominent city in Himachal Pradesh, stands as one of the worst hit by the heavy rains. In a recent occurrence, two lives were claimed by a fresh landslide in the Krishna Nagar region of Shimla. This devastating event led to the crumbling of eight residences, including six temporary structures, and the submersion of a slaughterhouse beneath the debris.

Shimla, August 15 (PTI) On Tuesday, two additional bodies were recovered from the debris of a collapsed Shiv temple in Shimla. Unfortunately, there are concerns that ten more bodies could remain trapped within the ruins. The toll of lives lost due to the relentless rain devastation in Himachal Pradesh since Sunday night has now risen to 53, according to officials.
In the twin landslide areas of Shimla’s Summer Hill and Fagli, the count of fatalities has reached 16, as stated by the authorities.
The region has been relentlessly pounded by heavy rains since Sunday, triggering landslides and cloudbursts that resulted in road blockages and instances of houses collapsing.
The combined efforts of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the Army, police, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have resumed rescue operations in Summer Hill around 6 am, as informed by Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, Aditya Negi, to PTI.
